MC3 and MC4 receptors in obesity
Com grande satisfação, convidamos a tod@s para participarem do seminário desta semana, que será proferido pela Profa. Dra. Fabíola Branco Filippin Monteiro, docente do Departamento de Análises Clínicas da UFSC. A professora Fabíola retornou recentemente de seu estágio pós doutoral na University of Cambridge, Inglaterra, com uma bolsa do Programa CAPES-PrInt, vinculada ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Farmácia e nesta oportunidade conversará conosco sobre sua linha de pesquisa.
Summary: Several therapeutic strategies for targeting MC4R signalling have been explored and implications in obesity phenotype have been pointed out. Analyzing transducer-coupling of a broad set of MC4R humans mutants implicated in obesity might help to expand current understanding of the mechanisms involved in the trafficking of and signaling by MC4R and its consequences in obesity treatment. Besides, the role of other receptors such MC3R is also a challenge for the understanding of how to most effectively target a key GPCR involved in weight regulation for the treatment of obesity and its complications.
